This new international, all-through school opened in the family-friendly ParkCity Hanoi community, to offer both local and foreign students a British-style education.
ISPH is set to be an all-through school by 2024, after opening Years 1 – 8 in 2019; nursery and reception classes in 2020; and Years 9 – 13 from 2020-24. Teaching follows the National Curriculum for England and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); IGCSEs and A Levels will eventually be offered to secondary and college students. All lessons are taught in English with the exception of Vietnamese and Korean language classes. In addition to the academic programme, ISPH offers a daily programme of extra-curricular activities.
Class sizes are capped at 24, which will certainly appeal to families looking for a level of personalised learning, and the teacher to student ratio will be 1:12 in nursery and primary and 1:24 in secondary. The academic year follows the UK system and runs from September to July.
The school opened within ParkCity Hanoi, which is a 77.4 hectare residential community on the western fringe of Hanoi that has become popular with families. Facilities include classrooms, science labs, creative arts workshops, drama, dance and music studios, a library, technology suites, multi-purpose hall, and a canteen. To support its PE curriculum and after-school sports clubs, the school has a covered swimming pool, Astroturf sports field, Astroturf playground, tennis courts, and a gymnasium.
ISPH is the second international school operated by the ParkCity Group, which opened a sister school in Malaysia in 2011 – The International School@ParkCity Kuala Lumpur (ISPKL). This school currently has more than 1,100 students representing over 50 different nationalities, and it was rated outstanding in a recent International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) inspection.
ISPH’s founding principal Rik Millington, who previously worked at the ISPKL campus, has 20 years’ experience in education; he has worked in schools in the UAE, the UK, Philippines, and Malaysia.
Fees for the opening year start at VND 344,800,000 for Year 1 and rise to VND 468,300,000 for Year 8. Other fees include an annual capital levy of VND 46,600,000, which is non-refundable. The school is offering some incentives for founding families, including a full waiver of the application fee of VND 3,700,000 and a free iPad provided for each student, as well as discounted tuition fees for families who enrol before July 1, 2019.
