The news follows the cancellations of GCSEs and A Levels in England and Wales as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Pearson Edexcel made reference to summer 2021 iGCSEs and A/AS Levels, saying that;
“Today we have confirmed three important updates:
• We will use a robust approach based on teacher assessment for International GCSE and International AS/A Level assessment in May/June 2021 and exams will not go ahead as planned
• We will offer an additional exam series for International GCSE later this year
• The International AS/A Level October exam series will go ahead as planned”.
The news comes soon after OxfordAQA announced that they too would cancel summer 2021 examinations. Of the British curriculum international exam boards, the news just leaves Cambridge Assessment still planning to conduct exams in June 2021. The Cambridge website simply states that;
“We know that our centres are facing different challenges in managing teaching, learning and assessment for our exams in our 2021 exam series. Our priority is delivering exams safely and fairly, allowing learners to progress”.
