Start early!
University phone lines typically open slightly earlier on A Level results day, so be ready to start dialling at 8am.
Be prepared
When you call any university to discuss a Clearing place they will ask for:
- Your UCAS ID
- Your UCAS Clearing number
- The A-level results you received for 2023
While some universities may offer you a place based on this information and the course availability, others will ‘interview’ you over the phone to assess your eligibility.
It’s a good idea then to have your personal statement to hand, as well as notes on why you chose this course, why you think your grades may be lower than predicted and why you want to attend this university.
Decline my place. If you have a confirmed offer but want to decline it and apply for a different course through Clearing, you need to log into UCAS Track. Click on ‘Decline my place’ to release yourself into Clearing.
You will then receive a notification to confirm you’re in Clearing.
