LET'S GO

Following the release of the IB Diploma results to 170,000 students yesterday there has been an angry backlash by a group of students who have quickly launched a petition on social media, many using the hashtag #IBscandal.

The petition has more than 1,500 signatures and calls for refunds and free remarks for the May 2020 results.

Twitter seems to be the medium of choice for the group with a range of comments:

"Is there a particular reason why I got a 7 in my IA (internal assessment) a 6 predicted and ended up getting a 5?" one student asked.

As a result of the cancellation of exams this year due to the COVID-19 emergency results were calculated based on teacher predictions, historic data and internal assessments.

The IBO has not, as yet, commented on the petition.
