Teddy Bear Nursery relocated in early 2022 to Khalifa City from its original location in Al Bateen. The now-Khalifa City branch is one of four nurseries under the same ownership, and one of the two newer nurseries bearing the same name. Whilst Al Bateen was established in 2016, the original Khalifa City A (now relocated to Al Mushrif) branch opened in 2008, and the Mohammed bin Zayed City branch opened in 2018. The latest nursery to join the group is located in Al Shamkah.
The group has recently come under the ownership of Liwa Education, owners of Liwa International School and Liwa International School for Girls (both in Al Ain) and the more recently opened Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi branch.
According to the nursery, the group offers 10 plus years of experience in Abu Dhabi, with a holistic early years program delivered in a loving and safe environment. The nursery team believes that a happy child is a learning child, with the growth of well-being and independence nurtured in the nursery. The staff is dedicated to ensuring that each child is given a balanced education and is guided through his or her journey of discovery and exploration with a qualified experienced team of early years teachers.
Children are accepted from the age of 45 days (in line with UAE Maternity leave provision) to 4 years. The nursery in Al Bateen appears established itself quickly, having grown in five years to provide care to some 100 children in mixed groups. Children from 33 different nationalities attend the nursery.
The nursery follows the Early Years Creative Curriculum - an American curriculum with a particular focus on Life Skills and School Preparation. Children are taught through a Project Based Learning curriculum designed to be fun and engaging and carefully planned around the children’s needs, concentrating on three key learning areas and four specific learning areas. The curriculum is said to be "very effective and adapted for all age groups and their needs, encouraging children to develop new skills through active learning".
The nursery supports children with Special Educational Needs through an Early Intervention Program provided onsite in partnership with Applied Behavior Institute (ABTi). A dedicated learning support teacher provides one on one and small group work activities with the children using a wide range of materials and activities already setup in the Montessori Learning Area. Such activities focus on practical life, art and creativity, sensorial, math and language.
After Teddy Bear Nursery children go to a variety of British, American and UAE National curriculum schools.
The facilities of the Khalifa City nursery will be updated in due course but are likely to be similar to those of Al Bateen which was housed in a large villa and offered a range of spacious classrooms, a variety of indoor activity areas, a large gym facility, a Music room, access to a large outdoor space including a park-like area, a Car Park, fully equipped with balance bikes, trikes, scooters and cars, Play houses, Sand Play and a Splash area.
Fees at Teddy Bear Nursery Khalifa City range from AED 19,500 to AED 33,000 per year. A variety of options are available in terms of the number of days spent at nursery, ranging from 2 days per week to a full 5 days. The nursery also offers a Summer Camp.
