We have over 90 nationalities attending our school.

Are there high proportions of a particular nationality?

British Students make up the largest part of our Student body, followed by a mix of other Nationalities.

If external examinations and assessments are part of your curriculum, which ones do you offer?

GCSE, BTech and A Levels. From 2019-2020 we expect to also offer IB in Year 12 & Year 13.

Our students have gone on to Universities here in the UAE, UK, USA, and Europe.

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

We are proud to offer a wide range of curriculum pathways, which cater to the diverse needs and interests of 21st-century learners. We offer the National Curriculum for England and the GCSE and A-Level programmes. BTEC qualifications are now available for students in Years 10-13, in addition, to selecting ASDAN Short Courses and Preparing for Adulthood programmes. Sunmarke is also a candidate school* pursuing authorization as an IB World School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Career-Related Programmes.

We facilitate a rigorous, enriched, and holistic education, emphasizing academic excellence and participation in diverse extracurriculars. This enables children to achieve outstanding academic, social and personal success, and become valuable and effective members of society.

Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?

Yes, this varies depending on the year group.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

We offer over 60 extracurricular & sports activities –including the World Scholar's Cup, Model UN, Performing Arts Academy, and Duke of Edinburgh – to suit the interests of every child and develop their personality and character strengths like perseverance, self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students? How does it promote a balanced diet?

Yes we offer Canteen services from breakfast through to Lunch.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

FS1 – 7:30am - 08.00am until 1:00pm
FS2 - 7:30am - 08.00am until 1:00pm

Aftercare for enrolled students is provided for FS1 to Year 2 up to 5pm - please contact Admissions for more information.

Primary (Year 1- Year 6) - 07:40am - 3:00pm
Secondary (Year 7-Year 13) - 07:40am - 3:10pm
Students in Primary and Secondary finish at 2:00pm every Thursday.

Yes, uniforms are worn by all year groups.

The Achievement Centre takes the lead in establishing and supporting inclusive practice and support systems throughout the school, working in close collaboration with parents, teachers, students and external specialists.

In order to facilitate successful participation and progress for all learners, we offer a select range of additional provisions at no extra cost. These are subject to staffing and availability, and are offered in response to the needs of the cohort. They include, but are not limited to:
