Kids Zone Nursery (also known as RAK Free Trade Zone Kids Zone) is a private nursery located within the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone. The nursery was first established on September 2006 with only two children and has since grown to 60 students from a wide variety of backgrounds and nationalities. Kids Zone Nursery follows a structured UK curriculum and set of activities which aim to educate and help children develop while also encouraging them to become independent. It offers five separate classes to children aged 3 months to 7 years of age. The Bunnies class (for children 3 months to walking age) focuses on motivating the child to enhance their senses by introducing them to a colorful, happy and nurturing environment. The Kittens class (for children 15 months to 2 years of age) starts to shift the child’s focus towards cooperation, group activities and encouraging independent thinking. The Tigers class (for children 2 to 3 years of age) work on group and individual activities and are introduced to number, language and class discussion through show and tell, as well as singing, stories, music and movement. The Lions class (for children aged 3 to 4 years of age) starts to focus more on the child becoming more independent through individual tasks such as writing, colouring, cutting, indoor and outdoor play. Finally the Dinosaur School Fun Club is a club for children 4 to 7 years of age which focuses on activities, such as painting, baking, story-telling, indoor and outdoor games, designed to develop the child’s creativity not part of their regular school subjects. Music lessons are also held twice a month by the nurseries resident music teacher. Nursery fees (as of 2011) range from approximately between 1,350 AED to 14,700 AED per year, depending on the number of hours per week the child is enrolled and the child’s age. The price does not include any extra such as bus fees.
