Our Own English High School Fujairah was inaugurated in 1988 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah. The focus of the school, it says, is on creating "a happy, caring, stimulating learning environment in which students and their teachers recognise and develop the students’ fullest potential in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation."
The school is affiliated to the Central Board for Secondary Education and is approved by the University of Cambridge as an IGCSE centre. It is also a recognised SAT Testing Centre.
OOEHS offers two different course offerings depending on if students are following a CBSE or IGCSE pathway.
The school offers a range of extra-curricula programs including: Arts and Crafts, Drama, Music, Singing, Elocution, Football, Debate, Movie Making, Cricket, Math Club, Science Club and Robotics. The school is also an Eco School participating in a "Waste to Wealth" program and hosts a monthly quiz programme - NMTQ Never Mind the Question.
The school lists the universities that graduating students have been accepted to. The list can be seen here. Most students opt for university in India or stay in the UAE.
There are two fee structures. Fees for a CBSE curriculum start at 4,900 AED for KG1 and rise to 10,450 AED for Grade 12. IGCSE fees start at 5,250 AED and rise to 11,200 AED.
Through 2019 Our Own English High School Fujairah has been operating under a dispute between the school operator, GEMS Education, and its landlord. In September, GEMS released a statement that it was no longer running the school, and that the school's professional license had been transferred without its consent. It is currently seeking redress in the UAE courts.
The school remains fully operational under the management of the landlord.
