Orange Seeds Nursery DSO opened in February 2022 and provides a cosy nurturing early learning environment for children age 3 months to 5 years.

The story so far…

Orange Seeds Nursery DSO opened in February 2022, following the success of its sister nursery in Abu Dhabi, which opened under the name KidsVenture in 2016, and was rebranded at Orange Seeds in 2018. The two nurseries are owned and operated by Edutainment company Ideacrate, which also operates Orange Wheels play centres and Orange Hub amusement centres.

We visited the nursery on a typical Monday morning to find out more about life at this Montessori influenced setting. The nursery is situated within Dubai Digital Park, which provides parents with safe and convenient parking at drop off and pick up.

We were warmly welcomed by Area Director Ms Shehla Khan, an experienced nursery leader and exceptionally knowledgeable advocate of the Montessori approach, and Nursery Manager Ms Matilda Fel Gyori, whose warmth and connection with every family made a very positive impression on us.

What about the curriculum?

Circle time in an FS1 classroom

Orange Seeds Nursery uses the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which provides solid guidance on early childhood development and learning milestones, with a strong focus on play-based learning.

The nursery combines this framework with influences from the much sought after Montessori approach, which is characterised by an emphasis on independence and respect for children’s natural psychological, physical and social development.

The nursery accepts children age 3 months to 4 years (at the time of writing) and will open an FS2 class (for children age 4-5 years) in September 2023.

What about the environment and facilities?

Orange Seeds is a modestly sized setting, with seven classrooms, one shared indoor play space and two small outdoor play spaces. The nursery’s pristine white walls, light wooden furniture and accents of colour create a calming blank canvas, where children can be the focus.

Classrooms are fairly small in size, but with maximum class sizes of 12 children in most rooms, they are not at all overcrowded. Most rooms have plenty of natural light and provide a safe and nurturing base for children to explore and learn.

Shared indoor play space

The nursery’s shared indoor play space provides a flexible play environment, where children can engage in imaginative play, active play and other key focus areas. The nursery’s two outdoor spaces are simple and very much a work in progress in this new setting but do have the potential to add additional play experiences to the children’s days.

Children attending the nursery also have access to Orange Wheels play centre, which is situated next to the nursery, within the same building. This is an outstanding active play facility, and really expands the nursery’s offering in terms of physical development opportunities.
