Omadaa International School, previously known as Deans International School, is located in Ajman and offers a US and UAE MoE based curriculum. The school opened in 2007.
According to the school's newly updated website, Omadaa International School employs 110 qualified and 25 non-teaching staff.
In the latest school inspection report by the Ministry of Education, Omadaa International School was found to be effective in all six categories that are assessed. In all focus areas, there were points of strength but also points that have been flagged for improvement.
The leadership of the school is effective as the principal has a clear vision of the school which is "based on raising the attainment of all students, developing their skills and preparing them for life after school." This vision has been shared with all stakeholders, ensuring a collective focus that bodes well for continued student attainment and overall improvement at the school.
The school, however, needs to focus additional effort on identifying students with special needs (SEND) as well as chart their progress and attainment. As the report notes, "The school’s systems [does] not give a clear enough idea of how much progress each student [has] made, and whether they [have] made enough progress to reach their full potential. This was partly due to the school not having a qualified special needs teacher"
The community atmosphere of the school is noted as being a strength, with the report finding that the school has "a friendly tone throughout the whole school community [and] parents said they [are] made to feel welcome in the school." The school communicates regular with parents through a variety of channels including "twitter, SMS and students’ daily diaries supplemented information which the administrators place on the school website."
Teaching and students' approach to their learning is also a strength of the school. The teachers are "confident in their ability to encourage students’ interest, enthusiasm and curiosity for their subjects. Difficult and complex subjects [are] delivered competently."
One area of improvement for teaching though is increased differentiation in the classroom. "Teachers [do] not adapt work to suit the full range of abilities in their class. Students with weaker reading skills struggle to understand instructions on worksheets that used challenging vocabulary." The report recommends that teaching ensure that all levels of students are challenged and catered to.
There is a Moderate chance that the school will effectively meet the recommendations of the report in the next 12 months.
Fees for Omadaa International School are not published on their website but estimates put the fees around 20,000 AED. The school should put fees on their site so that parents can make informed decisions about the school.
Facilities at the school include sports pitches, two primary and three senior playgrounds, an art room and music room, a media resource centre, and a theatre.
