What qualities and characteristics would you say define your school?

GIIS is an educational initiative of the Singapore-based Global Schools Foundation.We have come a long way from our first ever campus in Singapore in 2002, to 21 campuses in 7 countries today, imparting education to a diverse community of students of over 52 nationalities.

GIIS Dubai is our 23rd campus. Award-winning proprietary 9 GEMS educational framework and Global Montessori Plus programme enhance Multiple Intelligences to give your children the global edge in learning.
Our new Dubai campus started in September 2017. We would be offering a dual curriculum - CBSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
We are a future-ready school, inculcating in our students the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship from early years onwards. Dedicated Robotics and coding classes; Maker spaces; AI and other technology-oriented subjects are a step towards imparting future-relevant education.
Al-Tasamuh, our pioneering initiative, aims at disseminating the values of peace, harmony and brotherhood.

How many nationalities are represented in your school?

As of now we have children from India, Iraq, Spain and Singapore at our Dubai Campus

Are there high proportions of a particular nationality?

Yes Indians in majority.

What is the teacher: student ratio in your school?

2:12 for early years and 1:12 for Primary and middle school

Does your school have a waiting list?

Yes we do have provision for waiting list.

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

We use the trans disciplinary approach as well as research based learning, but not compromising on the expected CBSE indicators. Our in-house tailored 9 GEMS program convers all aspects of learning and makes the child an all rounder.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

We have two periods of PE per week during school hours which has range of sports as well as swimming.

How does your school promote healthy lifestyles?

The two breaks that the kids have during the day are monitored and kids are advised to bring home made and healthy food. No Junk food or soft drinks are permitted in the campus.

How do you promote healthy eating?

Our School teachers and the nurse interacts with the children regularly to ensure and guide them on the values of Healthy eating.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students?

We plan to have a canteen once the school starts till grade 6 in April 2018.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

8am to 2.45pm

How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?

We have two Open houses per term. Apart from this parents are given the option to meet the teachers with prior appointments to dicuss on their wards progress.

How often is the more formal feedback such as reports and parent/teacher meetings?

Twice a term.

What is your medium of instruction?


Is Arabic taught as both a first language and second language in your school?

English is our medium of instruction and Arabic is a compulsory language that all children learn right from Grade 1 onwards.

Which other languages are taught?

Hindi, French, Arabic

Do you offer EAL or TEFL support for those students where English is not their first language?

Not Applicable

Is Islamic Education/Studies for the Arab Muslim students delivered in Arabic for them?

Islamic education will be taught in English for the non Arab Muslims and in Arabic for the Arab Muslim children.

Do you have a dedicated prayer room/s for the Muslim students?

How do you support gifted, able and talented students?

We have a dedicated SEN evaluator and the kids are assessed and parents are advised as the per the school policies

We have a SEN department which is fully functional.

Does your school have an educational psychologist or access to one to assess and support those youngsters with more challenging learning and emotional needs?

We will be having a Counsellor on board once the school s fully functional

Do you have a parents’ group supporting the school?

Once the primary classes begin in April the parent support group will be formed.

Are there opportunities for parents to support the learning, activities and events within the school or on trips other than through the parent group?

We do encourage parental involvement in whatever aspect possible.

Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?

We do have parents orientation programme before the start of the academic year and this event gives whole insight of the happenings for the full academic year.
