GEMS Virtus School will open for the 2019-2020 school years and fees have currently been approved to start at AED 40,000 for FS1 and rise to AED 50,000 for Year 13.
The school was due to open in September 2018, but has been pushed back by one year. It is quite possible GEMS have opted to focus on the GEMS School of Digital Futures, which was announced as late as April 2018 for a September opening.
Both schools are/were to open in the Al Waha community, situated between Emirates Road (611) and Arabian Ranches.
GEMS Virtus will offer a coeducational UK curriculum, for children between 3 years old and 18, although initially WhichSchoolAdvisor.com believes this will be to Year 6.
Virtus plans 'state-of-the-art facilities including; Foundation Stage with specialised indoor and outdoor learning areas, outdoor multi-sports games area, full size outdoor football pitch, two multi-purpose sports halls, technology rich classrooms, ICT rooms, science rooms and specialist rooms.
The school will offer the UK curriculum throughout, with GCSEs and A Levels post-16.
In July 2017, GEMS appointed John Hughes (previously vice-principal at GEMS Metropole School) as founding principal at Virtus.
The appointment is not surprising given that the new Virtus is believed to be modeled on the GEMS Metropole model.
As such, WhichSchoolAdvisor.com assumes the school will be staffed with primarily UK teachers and have a strong SEND department.
