What qualities and characteristics would you say define your school?

GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah founded in 2010, is a day boarding school and the first of its kind in Sharjah. We follow the curriculum of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), India. With around 2,500 students and more than 150 faculty members, GMS, as it is fondly called, has established itself as a leading school known for academic excellence and an exceptional medley of after-school enrichment programmes.
The School has state-of-the-art facilities filled with vibrant learning spaces which ensure that learning is joyful and experiential. Our staff of highly qualified and experienced teachers is committed to knowing, understanding and celebrating every child, and leading them to their personal best. A strong partnership between school and parents creates the foundation for positive relationships, which helps students to be confident and successful individuals, and the school to grow and flourish.
The curriculum centres around the GEMS Core Values: Leading through Innovation, Pursuing Excellence, Growing by Learning and Global Citizenship.

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

The hallmark of a quality school is its ability to develop happy, creative and mindful students. Hence, all activities are designed, executed and evaluated based on this vital yardstick. We believe that our students can achieve excellence in an atmosphere of encouragement and acceptance. Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, India, GEMS Millennium School is an inclusive school that believes in inspiring a passion for learning, encouraging emotional and intellectual vitality, and empowering students with the confidence and courage to achieve their dreams. To support this, GMS offers a curriculum that is engaging, challenging and robust. The classroom and learning spaces provide multiple resources, including meaningful uses of technology, for enhanced and extended student learning.
GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah is a vibrant and pulsating campus with a charged atmosphere that is conducive to every student realizing his/her true potential. We aim not only to provide students with quality education but also to inculcate a feeling of mutual respect and harmony.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

Physical Education is an integral part of the curriculum. Students of Grades 2 upwards have a unique opportunity to be coached in Cricket, Basketball, Football, Table Tennis, Swimming, Roller Skating, Chess, Badminton and Athletics during the afternoon activities. The KG and Primary students put up Sports and Drill Displays every year in which each and every child participates. Inter-house competition in all major games, athletics and swimming are conducted annually in the sub-divisions (Grades 5 to 12) and teams represent the school in the Inter-school Sports/Games meets organized by other reputed Schools / Institutions and CBSE.

How do you promote healthy eating?

Strict hygiene standards are maintained at all times and children are encouraged to develop healthy eating habits.

The school believes in maintaining discipline which is not regimental or oppressive. Students are expected to conduct themselves with dignity and poise, be polite and courteous to their elders, kind and co-operative with their fellow students. Parents’ co-operation with the school is crucial in helping their child develop into a worthy citizen of tomorrow.

The Parent Forum is an active parent-school partnership whose basic mandate is to work collaboratively for the realization of the school’s vision. parents are involved in a number of ways to establish the partnership between home and school. Parents are encouraged to attend as many school functions and events as possible like Special Assemblies, Competitions and Annual School Events, Open Houses, Parent Teacher Meetings, Parental Engagement Week programmes and so on.
