GEMS Heritage Indian School is a CBSE curriculum school which opened in 2016 in temporary premises at the GEMS New Millennium School on the Al Khail Road. It relocated in 2018 to its permanent home next to the IMG World of Adventures site in Dubailand.

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

EYFS in Kindergarten
An enriched CBSE curriculum in Grades 1-8
From grade 9 follow the CBSE pattern preparing students for the board exams

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

The Heritage Cricket Academy operates 7 days a week. Cricket is integrated in the curriculum. From this academic year we are also integrating Football and basketball in the curriculum. Trained coaches are available in the school from 7:30am. Students can also avail of sports training after school at a nominal cost.

How does your school promote healthy lifestyles?

Student wellness and well being is given a lot of importance. The importance of staying healthy and keeping fit is promoted not just during PE lessons but also in the classrooms. Events like International Yoga Day, Dubai 30x30 fitness challenge etc. is given priority.

How do you promote healthy eating?

Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks to school. The school canteen also serves only healthy food approved by Dubai Health and Dubai Municipality. A health chart in every class helps students track their eating habits.

Maximum AED 10.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

7:30am - 11:50am for Kindergarten. After School activities from 12pm to 2pm.
7:30am - 1:50pm for Grades 1 upwards. After School Activities from 2pm to 4pm

Is there a school uniform?


How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?

Through report cards and regular mid term reviews.

How often is the more formal feedback such as reports and parent/teacher meetings?

Three times a year. However parents are welcome to meet with the teacher during the term with a prior appointment.

What is your medium of instruction?


Is Arabic taught as both a first language and second language in your school?

Arabic B is taught as a mandatory third language upto Grade 9

Which other languages are taught?

Hindi, French , Malayalam.
Mandarin will also be an option from April 2020.

Do you offer EAL or TEFL support for those students where English is not their first language?

The school has a reading programme and students are supported through RAZ Plus.

Is Islamic Education/Studies for the Arab Muslim students delivered in Arabic for them?

We do not have Arab Muslims studying in our school.

If external examinations and assessments are part of your curriculum, which ones do you offer?


Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?

Apart from Homework students also have extended learning assignments.

How do you support gifted, able and talented students?

They are challenged with enrichment activities and extended learning tasks apart from the prescribed syllabus.

Do you have a learning support team in your school?


Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?

We follow the KHDA categories of students with different learning needs. We have an alternative programme ASDAN for students who have barriers in the common learning environment. The school has a partnership with a therapy center for added support.

Please provide comprehensive details of how well your school did in external exams for students at 16 and at 18 years of age? Please provide sufficient detail to allow parents to have a view on how academic your school is?

Our first batch of Grade 10 students will write their board exams in March 2020.

Does your school have particular expertise in dealing with a specific learning need such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome and so forth?


Does your school have an educational psychologist or access to one to assess and support those youngsters with more challenging learning and emotional needs?

Yes. The school has a partnership with a therapy center for added support.

Do you have a parents’ group supporting the school?

Yes - The Heritage Parent Council is an active group that forms an important link between parents and school.

Are there opportunities for parents to support the learning, activities and events within the school or on trips other than through the parent group?

We have various Parental Engagement programmes through the school year.

Is there an opportunity for parental representation on your school Board of Governors?

Yes. The school has an active Governing Body with parent representation

Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?

We have special Orientation programmes and coffee mornings
