What are qualities and characteristics that define your school and its students?

GEMS Cambridge International School has a proven track record of success in both academic and extra- curricular activities. Teaching the National Curriculum for England,GCSEs and A-levels students perform to the highest level academically, artistically and on the sports field.
We are welcoming students in FS 2 – Year 13 and offer students a rich academic programme in a supportive learning environment. GEMS Cambridge International School consistently produces results that are significantly above the UK national averages year on year
Over the past 3 years alone, GEMS Cambridge students have been accepted to 97 universities in 26 countries.

GCIS – Abu Dhabi will prepare students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) course and the A Level Examinations of the University of Cambridge (UK). Additionally the school will offer Edexcel BTEC Level 2 and 3 qualifications in a range of vocational subjects once the student body has progressed to this stage of their learning

Facilities – Learners and 25m swimming pool, cricket nets, indoor sports areas, multipurpose hall, separate Foundation Stage play area, ICT suites and wireless connectivity throughout the campus, state-of-the-art science laboratories, 2 libraries, art studios, music choral and ensemble rooms, design and technology and media suites.

Students at the GEMS Cambridge International School achieved beyond expected potential with 26% of all entries being graded at A* or A, and 50% of all entries being graded at A*, A or B. In biology and chemistry students averaged a grade A, whilst in physics and English Literature students averaged a grade B. 8 students achieved A*/A grades in all curriculum subjects.

Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?

yes , homework is sent weekly every Thursday

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

They have a scheduled sports activities during their PE class weekly , they also do sports during their ECA an hour after school every Tuesday and Wednesday . Our school sports teams competes with other schools in Abu Dhabi and other emirates .

How does your school promote healthy lifestyles?

Through weekly chatter, website, teachers communication with parents and the canteen food we make sure is healthy .

How do you promote healthy eating?

Teachers discuss this with children , we encourage parents to provide Healthy food in their children's Lunch boxes
and unhealthy food is not allowed .

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students? How does it promote a balanced diet?

Yes we have 2 cafeterias

What is the approximate average cost of a lunchtime meal?

It serves healthy hot food, at less than 15 AED on average.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

The school starts at 7:45 and they finish 2:15. All the after school activities are done after 2:15 till 3:15 on Tuesday and Wednesday .
Early dismissal at 12:45 pm on Thursday

Is there a school uniform?

Yes there is, available at threads shop in Capital Mall

How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?

Termly reports , Parents teacher meetings and different communication channels between teachers and parents

How often is the more formal feedback such as reports and parent/teacher meetings?

We have publish the report cards by the end of each term and we have parents evening with teachers twice in the year
Also parents can arrange a meeting with the teacher anytime during the year

Which languages are taught at your school - please detail any as a first as well as second language?

French starting Year 7

Yes we do

On a case by case basis, we encourage them to present their artwork throughout the school , we help them to participate in competition thought the 7 Emirates , and they can also apply for a scholarship

Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?

We try our best to provide support needed for each student depending on their assessment report , after admission we also work with them with the help of a shadow teacher if needed to make sure that they are inducted properly into their classes

Does your school have particular expertise in dealing with a specific learning need such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome and so forth?

Yes it does
