First Steps Nursery Montessori is located in Dubai and follows theĀ Montessori and UK's Early Years Foundation Stage based curricula. Montessori and EYFS are the two most commonly referred to pre-school frameworks for early years education in the UAE.

The pre-school says it has in operation a "Multiple Intelligence learning system" and aims to provide varied learning experiences which include an emphasis on kinesthetic, audio, visual and spatial activity-based learning, in addition to the traditional read and write methodologies.

True to its Montessori routes the school says it wants each child to explore, interact and choose how to learn, in accordance to his or her personality and interest. "When the child enjoys the process, the learning will be far more effective."

From 18 months to 2 years First Dteps says it focuses on developing Gross Motor Skills, Social Skills and Language awareness. "Personal development at this stage is also crucial where they need to learn to follow rules and adhere to social manners".

From 2 to 3 years First Steps aims to bridge the gap from the toddler years to the nursery years, and slowly introduces the world of academic learning to the child. "Literacy, Numeracy concepts, along with understanding and knowledge of the world is introduced through music, art and exploration to build upon the natural inquisitiveness of the young learner."

From three years the pre-school aims to get each child ready for a successful entry into school. Literacy Skills and language development, both in English and Arabic, is focused upon. Numeracy concepts are also introduced.

In addition First Steps has weekly gym and physical development programmes while "manners, moral and health values are inculcated in the child through our personal development programme..."

The nursery says its uniqueness comes from its inclusion of literacy skills (especially spoken) in English & Arabic, its regular assessment and feedback system for parents, and the emphasis it places on skill-building.

The nursery has a clinic for immediate child's health needs, a learning style Diagnostics Centre to assess a child's learning styles, "colourful and homely" classrooms, an Outdoor Playground and Exercise Centre, a Sleep Room, Water Splash Pool and Play Area, an Outdoor Eco-garden & Indoor garden, a Designated Art Expression & Music Room, a Gym & Indoor Play Room and a Kitchen Area.

Fees are in generalĀ in line with other pre-schools in Dubai. Parents can choose a 2,3 or 5 day week, and an 8-12, 8-2, 8-4 and 8-6 schedule.
