Delhi Private School Ras Al Khaimah is the fourth school in the UAE to carry the highly regarded school name. The original branch was founded in Sharjah in 2000, and such was its popularity that a New Delhi Private School Sharjah opened in 2017. The Dubai branch opened in 2003. Over 10,000 students attend the original three schools.

The story so far...

Delhi Private School, Ras-Al-Khaimah (DPS RAK) opened in April 2021 and is located in Khalifa Bin Zayed City, building on the legacy of 22 years of the Delhi Private Schools in the UAE, in Sharjah (where there are two - the original Delhi Private School Sharjah which opened in 2000, and New Delhi Private School, founded in 2017 as a feeder to the Sharjah school) and  Delhi Private School Dubai, (which opened in 2003 following the popularity of the original Sharjah. school).

Since opening, the Ras Al Khaimah school has been mentored by its sister concern in Dubai - rated Very Good (the second highest rating) by the Dubai regulator, the KHDA

- with respect to curriculum, Continuing Professional Development of teachers and support staff, and co-curricular activities.  The school has attracted just over 200 children from KG to Grade XIII and will continue to grow annually adding an additional grade until it reaches Grade X. The school is co-educational to Grade IV, after which students are taught in single-gender classes. Currently there is one class per grade, with the exception of KG2 which has two. The bulk of enrolments have been in the KG to Grade III classes with additional take up in Grades IV to VIII (the latter having opened in April 2022). As would be expected, the majority of students are Indian nationals, followed by Pakistani students, Bangladeshi and Thai nationals .

The 202 students are supported by a team of 34 teachers, who have joined the school from India, Palestine, Morocco, The Philippines, Egypt and Zimbabwe.  There are additional support staff.  The current student numbers mean that there is a very low teacher:student ratio of 1:5.  The majority of staff  are highly experienced with between 10 – 15 years prior experience, whilst a further number  have been between 5 – 10 years’ experience.

What about the curriculum?

The school follows the CBSE curriculum, enriched by international best practices as well as national and local considerations and with a focus on experiential learning in the classrooms, whereby students learn by doing. The school focuses on cross disciplinary and art integrated lessons which caters to skill development of the child, while teaching the core subjects, offering student led/flipped classes, peer assessment and exclusive student participation in day to day lessons and activities in the school. The international EYFS curriculum followed in the formative years instill skill development learning for the Kindergarten students.

The curriculum is taught in English and provision for students who are English Language Learners is included within the fees.

What about support for students of Determination and those with Gifts and Talents?

DPS RAK is an inclusive school, enable students to follow a personalized curriculum where differentiated tasks and IEPs (Individual Education Plans) are framed to assist each child with learning gaps. The School counsellor, together with respective subject teachers, monitor the progression of each child. Six students have been registered with the Ministry Of Education as having SEN/G&T requirements. Based on CAT 4 results and the internal assessments, students are categorized as Gifted and Talented.

Currently the school has seven staff including three Shadow teachers to support students with additional needs and provides specialist facilities including a Resource room, designated parking space, and Ramps around school.

What about academic achievement?

DPS RAK uses both the IBT (International Benchmark tests) and CAT4 to assess students on entry to the school. The school also intends to enter its students into global benchmarking tests (TIMMS and PISA) in line with the UAE’s education requirements, and has stated that it will publish examination results when the time comes.

What about the facilities?

The school is located on a sprawling campus of 12.8 acres, with world class facilities including modern smart classrooms (offering immersive technology and Nearpod), fully equipped STEM centres, Mathematics, Science and Computer laboratories, a well-equipped Library, an extensive sports zone and a multi-purpose auditorium that provides opportunities for experiential learning to enhance academic skills. The school has sports facilities for cricket, basketball, football, lawn tennis, and also has a swimming pool and a kitchen garden.
