Our school is a nurturing environment which fully supports each and every child, inspiring excellence of standards and personalised learning.

We have 100% British trained teachers offering an affordable british education in Dubai.

Capital School follows the National Curriculum relevant to an international body of students.

What is the teacher: student ratio in your school?

There are Teaching Assistants in every year group that fully support learning in classrooms.

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

Our approach is success for all students to achieve their full potential.

We offer DL 100% and in school learning 100% to support our parents through the covid situation

We have a very close partnership between the parent and teacher, ensuring we work together for the best of the child, catering for their social and academic needs.

Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?

Yes all homework has an element of research and further extension skills. In primary, online homework is provided with games, as well as formal consolidation of key concepts covered during the week. This is given weekly. Reading is expected daily.

In Secondary- Home work is given for every subject and timetabled weekly using google classroom.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

Children have 2 lessons a week and we make sure that children continue with this important lesson through last term as physical activity is of paramount importance.

How does your school promote healthy lifestyles?

Healthy eating is promoted. Our curriculum covers the importance of healthy living in a number of subjects: English, Science, Social Studies and PE.

We take part in all relevant Dubai based competitions including Dubai Fitness Challenges and other Well Being challenges that encourage

physical development.

Physical Development is a priority in the work of our youngest FS children where they are encouraged to be independent and to improve their own physical and gross motor skills throughout the school day.

How do you promote healthy eating?

Yes a healthy lunch is required in school

We promote healthy eating by asking parents to provide a healthy lunch in school.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

7:15 to 2:00 + FS 7:15-12:30

Is there a school uniform?

Yes.

Please advise on your discipline policy?

We are proud of our students who display exceptional behaviour in school in all phases.

Positive behaviour management is followed with rewards where children are rewarded for good behaviour rather than recognising bad choices.

We have great role models in our school who show a positive ethos working together, supporting others in the class.

How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?

We have Parent and Teacher conferences following the school reports being issued twice a year.

Teachers are able to emails parents regularly

We use Class Dojo and Seesaw (multiple learning platforms) to support the children’s learning

Our SEND Department have IEPs and Personal Profiles for specific special needs students and these targets are shared with parents regularly .

How often is the more formal feedback such as reports and parent/teacher meetings?

Once per term.

Which languages are taught at your school - please detail any as a first as well as second language?

Do you offer EAL or TEFL support for those students where English is not their first language?

The support is provided by our class teachers, We tailor the curriculum to the needs of our international body of students. Along with this, we ensure our learning is personalised for every child.

Do you offer a dedicated prayer room/s for students? For which faiths?

Yes, we have a room for students.

How do you support gifted, able and talented students?

We provide G+T interventions regularly which are planned and documented within a school wide tracking document.

We ensure planned additional intervention is in place and reviewed regularly.

Do you have a learning support team in your school?

YES , we have a dedicated SEND team of 3 staff supporting STOD, EAL, GATE.

Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?

We have a dedicated SEND team who are fully qualified to offer support to various needs in the school.

Does your school have particular expertise in dealing with a specific learning need such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome and so forth?

Yes a well-qualified Inclusion team of 3 staff.

Does your school have an educational psychologist or access to one to assess and support those youngsters with more challenging learning and emotional needs?

The PASS data is used to support the children in their emotional needs and more challenging needs where appropriate. Staff are well aware of these children and have intervention strategies in place to accommodate to their needs.

Do you have a parents’ group supporting the school?

We have a PTA group meets regularly and through governors meeting

There are Webinars with secondary parents, weekly.

Are there opportunities for parents to support the learning, activities and events within the school or on trips other than through the parent group?

Yes – parents are involved as part of the learning for example, Reading from home

For Roald Dahl week we also had parents involved to discuss their interests.

Parents are not allowed on campus currently due to covid restrictions.

Is there an opportunity for parental representation on your school Board of Governors?

Yes we have parent representation on our governing body who provide our team with positive feedback for improvement.

Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?

A Welcome Pack is given to all new parents

We have clear expectations given by SLT as a point of contact when a new child starts by email and face to face.

There are informal meetings with parents to ensure children have settled through email and face to face.
