Al Eman School is an Arabic speaking K-10 school located in Al Rashidiya, Dubai which follows a UAE GSEC syllabus.
Al Eman School has been rated Acceptable for the eleventh year in a row (since inspections began) in the 2018-19 KHDA inspection process. An abbreviated inspection report can be found under the Inspection report tab. An update to this review will be completed once the full report has been published.
The story so far...
Al Eman School Dubai is home to 498 students, boys and girls, over half of which are from Emirati families and over 90 percent are Arab nationals. The school currently has a KHDA rating of Acceptable (2016/17), a rating it has consistently held for 9 years.
The school had made limited progress towards improving the quality of its service since the last inspection according to the 2015 KHDA report. In Kindergarten, the quality of teaching, learning assessment, progress in English, mathematics and science, and the curriculum were all said to be below the expected levels.
There has been improvement in the students’ personal and social development, and their innovation skills at the school. The report notes that "students generally [show] responsibility and made positive contributions to school life."
In Cycle 1 and Cycle 2, students’ attainment and progress in all subjects were acceptable with the exception of Arabic as an additional language, where they were both good. The report noted the curriculum did not always allow the development of enquiry based skills. It also noted that there was not always a sufficient challenge for the brightest students.
Overall, in order for the school to improve, there needs to be a refocus on teaching and assessment as well as increased opportunities for teachers' professional development. The report notes that the school needs to "improve the quality of teaching and learning, in all subjects and cycles, by improving teachers’ awareness of what good student centered teaching looks like, and ensuring that these qualities are increasingly present in all lessons."
Assessment also needs to feedback more into lesson planning to improve student achievement. This can be done by improving the school's understanding of assessment best practice by "ensuring that all teachers better analyze assessment data and use it to modify their planning, their teaching and the curriculum."
The school's website does not seem to be functioning.
