LET'S GO

Welcome to the Al Bateen Academy official Q and A page. Here we ask the questions, and the school answers directly. It is its chance to have its say on specific areas you have told us you want to know about. If you think there are additional questions we should be asking you may contact us here.

What are qualities and characteristics that define your school and its students?

Al Bateen Academy is located at the heart of Abu Dhabi city and is one of the most spectacular looking schools in the world. The school has state of the art, modern facilities to support learning including an indoor swimming pool, full size Astroturf football pitch, ICT labs, Art and ceramics rooms, dance and drama studios, science laboratories and many more specialist learning areas.

Al Bateen Academy opened its doors in 2011 and has been on an incredible journey in a short space of time. The school has grown significantly from its starting point, providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities for students from FS2 to year 13. We are a non-selective International school providing holistic education to local and expatriate children. Our goal is to inspire all children to have a passion and love of learning. The student body is represented by over sixty different nationalities, making the school a vibrant and exciting International school where respect and collaboration are promoted on a daily basis.

The curriculum at Al Bateen academy includes the PYP programme in the Primary years which was introduced in 2019, an adapted English National curriculum embedded with opportunities to promote International mindedness, for students in years seven to nine. Students in the Middle school follow the I/GCSE curriculum and in the Senior school study the IB Diploma. This pathway provides a rigorous learning journey and enables students to achieve globally recognised qualifications as part of the assessment outcomes.

We believe the curriculum encompasses all aspects of learning organised by the school, including the wide range of opportunities outside the classroom including school trips, the pastoral provision, after school clubs, student leadership opportunities, productions and sports teams to name just a few. We provide as many opportunities for students to participate in events and learning experiences which enables them to fulfil their potential and become happy, successful, compassionate global citizens.

The students at Al Bateen Academy have been highly successful academically, with students exceeding national and international standards at both IGCSE and IB Diploma level over the past five years. The school has had a continued trend of improvement over the past five years with results improving year on year and many of our graduate students attending the best universities around the world.

Education is far more than teaching children about curriculum content, it is developing young minds and equipping them with a range of skills. We provide opportunities for children to learn through a variety of experiences enabling them to develop a broad range of skills, so they are successful, happy individuals who are able to make a positive contribution to society. We want our students to take responsibility for their learning by inspiring them and igniting their passion and curiosity about the world. Students are more successful when they make their own decisions about their learning journey and as such we focus on student centered learning as a core foundation of our teaching and learning approach.

We invite you to visit the school and feel free to arrange this through the ‘book a tour’ link section of the website and we would be happy to show you around our amazing school.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students? How does it promote a balanced diet?

Aldar Academies are committed to creating a healthy choice of meals for our students. Studies have shown that providing a child with the correct menu choice not only promotes good health but can aid with concentration and academic success. All food is chosen and planned according to global nutrition standards and meets the requirements of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Our menus are prepared and analysed by qualified dieticians taking into account the requirements of each age group. This ensures that the food is not only healthy and nutritious but also fits with the child’s growth and development needs. We ensure that both our hot and cold lunches are carefully planned to include assorted fruit, wholemeal grain and cooked and raw vegetables. We only use fresh ingredients and do not utilise ready-to-eat or finished packed food like chicken nuggets, hummus, etc. giving our food a real ‘home cooked’ feel. Our attractive canteen offers children the chance to try new food whilst socialising with their classmates, with meals costing 15-20 AED.
