What are qualities and characteristics that define your school and its students?

Ajman Academy is a dynamic IB World School community accredited to offer the IB Primary Years Programme to primary students and is a candidate school for Middle Years Programme in grades 6 to 8. We then offer IGCSE and AS/A levels for students from grade 9 to grade 12. Our focus is to create an inspirational, safe and supportive environment for your child to learn and develop.
We are the only CIS accredited school in Ajman.

Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?

Home learning activities that are personalised at all grade levels through our school policy. This is an integrated approach with our 1:1 iPad programme. Students measure and track their own progress through Apps such as Seesaw and Showbie. The time spent varies by the age and developmental stage of the child.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

Physical Education and sport are crucial elements of a student’s life, and integral to their health and wellbeing. Ajman Academy boasts modern facilities that are available to students, including two sports halls, a 25m swimming pool, full-size outdoor football pitch, two tennis courts, five-a-side football pitch and an outdoor volleyball and basketball court.

Ajman Academy offers a wide range of learning opportunities through the curriculum. All students have two sessions of PE each week, and they focus on participation, progression and engagement and provide students with the chance to undertake a variety of sporting roles.

How does your school promote healthy lifestyles?

At Ajman Academy we adhere to a healthy eating policy for students who purchase their meals through the cafeteria or bring their own packed lunches from home.  Healthy guidelines are provided for parents who choose to send in lunchbox contents. In the cafeteria, all meals are Halal, nutritionally balanced and are prepared at the school using locally sourced ingredients and produce wherever possible. Younger children have their snacks sent to their classrooms whilst older students eat snacks in the school cafeteria. All children are supervised by class teachers and/or teaching assistants whilst eating. The cafeteria also caters to students with special dietary requirements, food allergies only.

How do you promote healthy eating?

The school has a responsibility to ensure that wherever possible we provide healthy eating choices for all students. We regularly work to ensure that healthy eating is also promoted within the classroom and children understand the food choices that we give them.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students? How does it promote a balanced diet?

Yes, our food is cooked fresh everyday in our onsite kitchen.

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

Sunday - Wednesday 7.45 AM - 2.45 PM (Pre-Kg and KG1 have the option to finish at 1.00 PM). Thursday 7.45 AM - 1.00 PM all grades.

Is there a school uniform?

Yes and it can be purchased from our onsite uniform shop all year round.

Please advise on your discipline policy?

At Ajman Academy we believe that effective behaviour management is essential in developing an environment where students feel safe. Appropriate behaviour is identified and celebrated whilst inappropriate behaviour is managed in a positive and consistent manner.  When dealing with inappropriate behaviour, we use logical consequences rather than punishment. 

How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?

Progress is measured every 6 weeks through personalised learning journeys in Primary School. We have parent-student-teacher learning conferences each term and supplemented by a goal setting conference to target set for attainment. We have ePortfolios using the See Saw and Showbie Apps on the Apple platform where students and teachers update day to day progress evidence and feedback via written and voice recordings.

How often is the more formal feedback such as reports and parent/teacher meetings?

There are 2 formal reporting periods Mid Year and End of Year, where full reports on progress and attainments are written and electronically delivered.

Which languages are taught at your school - please detail any as a first as well as second language?

Arabic and French

Do you offer EAL or TEFL support for those students where English is not their first language?

EAL is embedded in teaching. The majority of staff in Primary are trained in Teaching EAL learners in mainstream classrooms. We provide support with Teaching Assistants for those who join Ajman Academy with lower levels of English and monitor through our learning journeys.

Do you offer a dedicated prayer room/s for students? For which faiths?

Yes, there are multiple prayer rooms in both campus buildings.

How do you support gifted, able and talented students?

There are enrichment activities built into the curriculum for each age group.

Do you have a learning support team in your school?

Ajman Academy aims to provide all students with the opportunity to achieve their best academically,
emotionally and socially through:
Providing high-quality learning to enable the acquisition of skills, knowledge and concepts relevant to
their future;
Promoting an ethos of care, mutual respect and support, where effort is valued and success celebrated;
Enabling students to become active, responsible and caring members of the school and wider international community

Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?

We are an inclusive school according to federal legal requirements. We accommodate moderate learning challenges within an inclusive mainstream approach. Students are supported by shadow teachers where required.

Does your school have particular expertise in dealing with a specific learning need such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome and so forth?

We are supported in our provision by a specialist external service provider who works with the parents of children who have specific learning needs. The centre supports the school by visiting us.

Does your school have an educational psychologist or access to one to assess and support those youngsters with more challenging learning and emotional needs?

Yes, we have a school counsellor available to students.

Are there opportunities for parents to support the learning, activities and events within the school or on trips other than through the parent group?


Is there an opportunity for parental representation on your school Board of Governors?

Currently the Board does not have a parent representative, however, three members of the Board have children at the school

Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?

At Ajman Academy, we seek to forge a close liaison between the school and home. The opportunity for parents to keep an up-to-date contact with teachers concerning their child’s involvement and performance is high on our agenda to ensure we are working in unison for the betterment of each child.  Some of the ways in which we communicate directly with parents are:
