Rain or no rain, if you are wondering whether your school is open for business, it is - unless you have specifically been informed otherwise.

The Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority has clarified that schools in the emirate will remain open - unless the school decides to suspend classes.

So far the only school we have been informed is closed for the day is Victoria English School, in Sharjah.

The KHDA released its note to parents in a tweet. It comes in response to the Ministry of Education's earlier announcement that schools have the discretion on whether or not to suspend classes.

The KHDA's tweet read: "We hope you had a fantastic holiday! We've missed you! Have a great day back at school tomorrow (unless you've been informed by your school to stay home)."

The news comes as a relief to many parents, somewhat shell shocked after a long holiday: "My kids are going to school, even if the doors are locked," one told us.
