The shortlist for the 2019 Top Schools Awards has been revealed, with schools across the UAE vying to find a place in one of 19 categories of awards for 2019.

The five finalists, and single overall winner, will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony being held at the Rajmahal Theatre Dubai, at Dubai Parks and Resorts on 7th March 2019.

"This is a significant step forward from the inaugural year," Jonathan Westley, the Editor of, told us. "This year we opened up the nomination stage to schools, to give them the opportunity to let their passion for what they do shine through. Their evidence will help support the choices our judges will have to make in reaching their decisions.”

"Our judges will face very difficult decisions given the outstanding standard of emirates’ schools, many of which today educate children at a level that is competitive with the very best schools anywhere in the world.”

As well as a nominations stage, this year's awards also includes independent judges, not part of the team, to ensure an additional level of objectivity in the deliberations.

James Mullan, co-founder of Which Media, the parent company of, told that the 2019 awards were going to be something truly special.

"We want these to be the Oscars of the school year. They will be an opportunity for us all to rightly celebrate, and recognise, all that schools and their teachers, working together with parents, the wider community and the UAE government, achieve for children each year. We are fortunate enough to be hosting the event this year at the amazing Rajmahal Theatre at Dubai Parks and Resorts. It is shaping up to be a night to remember!"
