"As a precaution, education, emergency and crisis authorities announce the transfer of a group of schools to the distance-learning system," the authority said on Twitter.
The actual specific schools involved were not identified by authorities.
According to the Covid-19 school protocols released last week, schools will close when two confirmed cases are discovered.
The suspected cases were identified during Covid-19 screenings for teachers and administrative staff prior to the reopening of schools this week.
School administrations will communicate directly with parents to update them on any changes, the UAE news agency WAM reported. The precautionary measure will "remain in place until the results of the laboratory tests appear," the authority said.
The Ministry of Education and the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management have called on all school employees, including teachers and administrators, students and their parents, to cooperate and disclose any suspected cases or any contact with people with the Covid-19 virus.They have also been urged people to report the presence of any symptoms in order to help limit the spread of the virus.
Parents have been requested to not send their children to classes and teachers and staff members asked not to go to work if any virus symptoms appear so as to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
The Ministry also asked the public to obtain information from official sources, not from rumours, and respect the privacy of individuals.
On Tuesday 1st September, the UAE has announced 574 new cases of COVID-19, taking the overall tally in the country to 70,805.
