School Fees late, Students locked in Dubai School

A Dubai school reportedly locked students in the gym because their parents had not paid their school fees. The police are said to be investigating the incident, caught on video and posted widely on social media.

The KHDA and Dubai Police are reported to be investigating an incident in a Dubai school where students were locked in the gym as a result of non payment of school fees.

The incident was recorded by on video which was later shared widely on Social Media.  The video is said to show pupils at the school chanting "release our friends" from outside of the gym. understand that Dubai Police were called to attend the incident by an concerned member of staff.  

Speaking to the Al Roeya newspaper, Fatima Al Balushi, Head of Awareness and Education at Dubai Police's Child and Women's Rights Department, said that a team of "safety ambassadors" was subsequently sent to train the school staff on "how to handle such situations in ways that comply with the country's Child's Rights Law and Child Protection Policy".

The video is the second from a Dubai school to be shared on social media this week.  The first was a video of a student of GEMS World Academy bullying a fellow pupil.
