The school group says it has signed a long term land lease, and according to its statement "intends to enter into an arrangement with a developer who will finance and build world-class school facilities on the property on our behalf."
The new school will comprise a 2,250 seat campus set in spacious grounds close to Abu Dhabi's new central business district. The campus "will feature extensive sports, science and arts facilities for students from the age of three to 18".
Nord Anglia Education expects to invest $11 million over four years to equip the school.
Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO of Nord Anglia Education, commented:
"We are delighted to announce that we have signed a land lease to establish our second school in Abu Dhabi. The demand for premium K-12 education in the Emirate continues to grow strongly from both local families and expatriates alike.
"The excellent location and facilities of the new campus will allow us to provide an outstanding school for students in the city.
"Nord Anglia Education has provided high quality international education to children in Abu Dhabi since 2009, and we are now looking forward to building on this success with the opening of the new school."
The opening of the school is subject to receipt of further regulatory approvals.
