ADEC has announced that eight new private schools will open this academic year, creating over 16,000 new student places across the Emirate.

While the council has yet to reveal the schools' locations, it has announced that four will utilise the British curriculum, three the American curriculum and one the Indian curriculum.

The National reported there are a further 19 new schools currently under construction and set to open over the next two years. However, ADEC has yet to clarify how many of these schools will be private.

There are currently 186 private schools in Abu Dhabi Emirate and the sector is expected to grow by a further five percent per year until 2020/2021.
