Admissions are now fully underway for the newly completed Swiss International Scientific School (SISD), Dubai's first fully multi-lingual Swiss curriculum school, set to open in September.
Offering multi-lingual education in English, French, German and Arabic, SISD has a 2,442 student capacity and is the first of its kind in the UAE.
Principal, Beat Sommer told Emirates 24/7, “from Grade One on-wards, students in the bilingual sets will be immersed in a progressive environment where they will eventually study 50 per cent of their time in English and 50 per cent of their time in either French or German, with Arabic tuition.”
He went on to note, “in September 2015, Pre-KG to Grade 6 will open. Grades will open progressively to Grade 12 in the years to come."
Located in the Dubai Creek area, the state of the art Dhs530 million campus boasts, "an Olympic-sized 50m swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, football and rugby pitch, an indoor and outdoor running track, a climbing wall, a gymnasium and a multi-purpose sports hall and a range of water sports, such as sailing, rowing and paddling,” said Sommer.
A boarding facility will be introuced in 2017-2018 offering accommodation for 350 students in separate buildings for boys and girls, offering various community areas, modern facilities and pastoral support.
Interestingly, the website goes on to mention that the school will be reserving places for children with special educational needs, however, it does also note that those with language based learning difficulties are unlikely to be offered a place, given the curriculum's emphasis.
Fees at SISD range between Dh60,000 and Dh95,000, however, for those applying before April 30, 2015, a discounted rate (Founder fee) will be applicable for the next three years.
