Dubai’s education regulator has announced a senior appointment. Dr Ahmed Al Sharif has assumed the position of deputy director general and will also be deputy chairman of the board of directors. Dr Sharif was formerly the Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council and has played a leading role in promoting sporting initiatives in the UAE, including serving as a member of the National Olympic Committee for five years. He has a strong track record in the education arena serving as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Assistant to the activities of the Student Welfare, President of the UAE Interschool Sports Association (2000 -2008) and was also a member of the International School Sport Federation.
