One of the biggest schools to launch this year is the 3,000+ capacity Sunmarke School in JVT. Built to 're-home' and expand the Secondary school at Regent, Sunmarke will also introduce a new Fortes Nursery and Primary on the site.
Sunmarke might be big, but architects GAJ have ensured the school has numerous communal areas and break-out spaces, giving the building a spacious and light feel.
Is the structure complete? Sunmarke is well and truly complete, work now is centred around final preparations and cleaning.
Have the teachers arrived? Many of the Secondary teachers were already employees of Regent and have simply moved over to Sunmarke, while the rest have been recruited in both the UK and UAE.
Have the resources arrived? Again, while some Secondary resources have come from Regent, Sunmarke has also been kitted-out with some impressive new equipment, including: a sixth form suite with gym, food technology rooms, design technology classes, a textile room and more.
What about the sports facilities? Sunmarke's centre-piece has always been the centre football field, however there are many more first class facilities in the school, including two multipurpose sports halls.
The swimming pool is also finished and filled.
In the EYFS outdoor courtyards, the outdoor play equipment is being installed.
Interestingly, Sunmarke School will accommodate it's own Jumeirah Nursery within the same site.
Parent Information: School uniforms are available from the school. Transport is being provided by the school's own in-house Fortes bus company.
Sunmarke will open on the 9th September and tours are available daily over the next week, tel: 04 423 8900 or 04 391 8886 for more information.
