The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced the school holidays for Eid Al Fitr.
Schools will be off on Thursday, June 14 and Sunday, June 17. Monday could be a holiday if Eid falls on Saturday it said.
The announcement came after the Federal Authority For Government Human Resources announced that the first day of the holiday will begin on Thursday, June 14th, and will last until Shawwal 3.
Depending on when the moon is sighted and when Eid begins, Shawwal 3 will either be on Sunday, June 17 or Monday, June 18.
Schools will be closed until Sunday if Eid falls on Friday (making Ramadan 29 days). However, if it falls on Saturday, they will remain closed until Monday.
The official start of Eid Al Fitr is subject to the moon sighting.
Private sector holidays will fall on Friday June 15 or Saturday June 16 (Shawwal 1 or 2), the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said, though the official start is subjected to moon sightings.
If Eid falls on Friday, private sector firms will be closed until Saturday. If Eid falls on Saturday, the private sector firms will remain closed until Sunday, with work resuming on Monday.
