The Italian International School (IIS) is located in Khalifa City, a district of the capital. According to the school’s website there will initially be 20 classrooms for grades 1 to 5, sixteen classrooms for the lower secondary and 12 ‘learning spaces’ for the upper secondary.
According to information received by WhichSchoolAdvisor.com, IIS will offer ‘an international curriculum’, which suggests the school is looking to provide the IB, however this is to be confirmed. ‘All students who attend the school will be required to study Italian as an additional language. English will be the language of instruction’. Fees range from 36,250 AED from KG1 up to 57,450 AED to grade 12.
The principal of the school is Janet DesJardins.
The school’s founder, Aref Al Khoori says:
“At IIS first and foremost we seek to create a stimulating, safe and respectful environment for our students. We seek to provide a creative environment coupled with a bilingual curriculum that sets a solid foundation for critical life skills, social skills and a healthy lifestyle starting with our youngest learners.”
In terms of facilities, the school highlights its library, ICT rooms, kitchen lab, a swimming pool and a music and art room, as well as a cinema among its prime features. The school has also signed an agreement with the top Italian football club, Juventus.
