The public and private sector holiday for Prophet’s Birthday has been announced in the UAE.
The Federal Authorities, Ministries and private sector companies will get a holiday on November 18, a Sunday, instead of November 20, a Tuesday.
The Prophet’s Birthday actually falls on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal, which is November 20th on the Gregorian calendar.
The change in date allows public and private sector employees a three day weekend.
Work across the UAE will resume on Monday, November 19 announced the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation on Wednesday.
Most schools have sent out in emails to parents that November 20, Tuesday, will be a holiday subject to confirmation. This will now change to November 18.
There will be another long weekend in the UAE at the end of November for Commemoration Day and UAE National Day.
