Foremarke School to Expand to Year 13

One of only two Preparatory schools in Dubai catering to students from FS1 to Year 8, with the original aim of supporting students wishing to take the UK Public school Common Entrance examination, Foremarke will now expand to offer the UK curriculum to Year 13, adding Year 9 in 2020-21 and then growing organically.

LET'S GO

Foremarke School, sister school to Repton School Dubai, has announced a milestone expansion plan to continue providing education to students up to Year 13, subject to KHDA approval.

The school opened in September 2013 and currently accepts students to Year 8. It will continue to grow organically year on year and will provide the IGCSE curriculum up until Year 11, followed by A-levels for Year 12 and Year 13.  Foremarke School has been rated Very Good by the KHDA for the past two years.

Historically, students from Foremarke were guaranteed a place at Repton which follows the UK curriculum to Year 11, but then offers the IB Diploma Programme for Years 12 and 13.  With the decision to expand Foremarke to offer A Levels, owners Evolvence Knowledge Investments (EKI) will now be able to meet the demand for both the IB and UK curricula pre-university qualifications.  It had previously been mooted that Repton would offer both curricula at Sixth Form.

One of only two British preparatory schools for children aged three to 13 (the other was Arcadia Preparatory which is also opening its Secondary School in September 2020 and will grow to Year 13), Foremarke had the stated intent of supporting students with the 11+ and with the Common Entrance examinations which are usually the basis for attendance of many of the prestigious Public schools (which are actually entirely Private!) in the UK.

Foremarke School Dubai is the partner school of Foremarke Hall, Repton UK’s long established Preparatory School, and mirrors the school’s belief in traditional values, one-to-one pastoral care and the overall holistic development of a child. Foremarke promotes inclusivity of both SEND and Gifted and Talented students  through the Foremarke Achievement Base (FAB).

Foremarke School is an accredited member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and an 'IAPS World Hub School'. It was the first school in the UAE, and only the second school globally, to have received this prestigious status. It has also been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2018-2021 for its use of technology and compelling learning environment that engages students and enhances learning across all of its year groups.

The current school features a very traditional in appearance, but exceptionally modern and large campus with excellent facilities and amenities designed to contribute towards students' development beyond the classroom. To accommodate the new cohort of students, a new wing was opened at the school’s Dubai Science Park campus in 2018, with additional sporting facilities and dining halls introduced in order to accommodate for the extension and cater to the school’s 1,200-student capacity.

The Apple Distinguished School currently houses a high number of specialist classrooms such as drama, art, music rooms, science labs and a dance studio. To maintain the high level of specialist education for future senior school students, Foremarke also plans to add more Design and Technology (DT) labs in the near future.

Making the announcement at the Annual Open Day, Foremarke School Headmistress, Zoe Woolley said: “Since the inception of Foremarke School in 2013, we have grown exponentially and we are proud to be able to extend our educational offering to students for their holistic academic careers. Academic and sporting excellence, as well as performing arts, remain fundamental components of Foremarke School and we will continue to provide this to all our students throughout preparatory and secondary school years.”

The decision to add the new class years stemmed from the parents’ desire to find a senior school that exuded the same prestige, ethos and successes as Foremarke. “Listening to their feedback, we decided to offer continuity for our families who want their children to stay at one school for their full educational career, and enjoy the benefits of the excellent education they receive at Foremarke School,” explains Mrs. Woolley.

Meanwhile, EKI’s Dovecote Nursery, currently located in Jumeirah and providing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to children from birth until age three, will move to the Foremarke School campus from January 2020 – providing parents with holistic education offering for their children from their early years all the way up until graduation.

Current fees at Foremarke School range from AED 58,500 in FS1 to AED 83,000 for Year 8.
