Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed that the 2022 Eid Al Fitr holidays for private schools in Dubai will last a full week, starting on Monday 2nd May, with schools reopening on Monday 9th May.

The announcement was made today by the KHDA on twitter:

"Bad news for those of you who were hoping for a short Eid holiday – it’s a whole week! Schools will be closed the week starting Monday May 2 & will open again Monday May 9. Eid Mubarak lovely people!"

While public sector workers will enjoy the same week-long Eid Al Fitr break, those working in the private sector have a shorter holiday. The private sector holiday has been announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation as the period of 29 Ramadan until 3 Shawwal 1443. According to astronomical calculations, this is expected to fall on Monday 2nd May, lasting 3 days, which will mean private sector employees will return to work on Thursday 5th May.
