The company acquired AED 3.7 billion (US $ 1 billion) worth of assets of the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC). Cranleigh was one of the assets included in the acquisition.
According to information sent to WhichSchoolAdvisor.com by the school, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi brand will remain in place with no changes in its operations.
The spokesperson said:
“We continue to work with HE Mohamed Al Mubarak who remains our Chairman so there is excellent synergy and continuity... All in all, it’s business as usual and we are extremely positive about the future partnership.” A letter to the parents stated:
“Although Aldar has its own portfolio of Aldar Academies, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi will continue to operate completely independently. Aldar are fully aware of the high standards of teaching and pastoral care that Cranleigh parents have come to expect must not change. They recognize this and value the important role that Cranleigh plays, not only in the Saadiyat Island community, but more generally in Abu Dhabi’s education system.”
Aldar Properties has acquired 14 assets with a focus on Saadiyat Island, coming from a range of sectors including hospitality, retail, residential and the education sectors.
