The news regarding UAE entry visas has been subject to change throughout this week.  More change is now in sight, it seems, as the UAE Embassy in London issued a tweet which announced the temporary suspension of all visas on arrival from Thursday 19th March. The tweet has not yet been backed up by a statement from sources within the UAE itself.

The news was announced as an 'extra step' to combat the spread of Covid-19 and impacts all travellers, barring those holding diplomatic passports.

UAE Residents holding valid visas are not impacted by this change.

The news is likely to most impact expatriate families who have sons studying overseas.  Parents are not able to sponsor their sons once they reach the age of 18 and they must, therefore, have a visa on arrival in order to enter the country.

Many parents will now be scrambling to bring their children home on the last remaining flights today.

We will update, and confirm, this story as more information becomes available.
