Ms Healey was hit by a car while riding her bicycle to work on the early Wednesday morning in Abu Dhabi's Al Rahba area. According to a school spokesperson, she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 35 years old.
A keen sportswoman, Ms Healey was a well known figure in the Abu Dhabi triathlon scene and had qualified to represent the UAE in the half Ironman World Championships in Finland this summer. She was also an accomplished swimmer, Irish dancer and football player.
Ms Healey was in her fourth year at Amity International School, Abu Dhabi, prior to which she had held positions in Al Rawafed School, and the American International School, Abu Dhabi.
In her role at Amity International School, Ms Healey made a significant impact on participation and enthusiasm for girls' football. According to the school, interest in the sport rose considerably during her time working there, with her passion for it described as 'contagious'.
A school spokesperson shared the following tribute:
"It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic loss of our beloved P.E. teacher, Ms Caina. Her passing has left a void in our school community that will be difficult to fill.
Her passion for sports was contagious, her dedication to promoting a healthy lifestyle inspired countless students to lead an active life. Ms Caina will always be remembered for her boundless energy, infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to her students. She was a true role model, and her legacy will live on through the lives of the many students she impacted over the years.
Caina was an incredibly selfless person, dedicating significant amounts of her own time to ensuring pupils had the amazing opportunities we have become accustomed to. She could regularly be found warming up nervous Amity pupils on their way to the start line of a TriYas or Hudayriat triathlon competition.
She has been an integral component of the envied Amity team and her belief in community and supporting one another is the foundation of her incredible legacy.
An adored teacher, coach, tutor, supporter, colleague and friend; she will be forever missed. May she rest in peace, and may her family and friends find comfort in the memories of her remarkable life."
Principal Mr Adrian Frost said:
"This is inevitably a difficult time for the whole school community but it has been so heart-warming to see the compassion and support offered by students and staff to each other at a time when so many are struggling with their own complex and challenging emotions.
Caina had an immense impact on the lives of her students and colleagues. Many of her students attribute their achievements, their character and their values to the instruction and coaching that they received from her.
Over the past three days, I have heard affirmations from all over the city of the high regard in which she was held. The loss we feel is keenly felt not just within our own school community, but all across the city.
The support from schools across Abu Dhabi has been immense and we are hugely grateful to all those that have come forward to offer assistance, offering bereavement guidance and staff to assist with counselling”
