In a decree sent out my the Ministry of Education, 47 schools in Sharjah, Ajman and the Northern Emirates that have been identified as Weak or Very Weak, have been prohibited from registering Emirati students.

The Ministry of Education which has already sent letters to parents notifying them of the decision, said identified schools will not be able to register new Emirati students, or re-register existing ones, from 2018-2019 onwards.

The announcement comes as a result of the implementation of the Council of Ministers decision 7/41 of 2016 which restricts the acceptance of national students in private schools in the country deemed as Weak or Very Weak.

The schools concerned have been informed of the decision and directed to return registration fees to parents of students currently enrolled in the school. Identified schools cannot re-register Emirati students at any stage or grade.

Schools will remain under the restriction until they improve - which needs to be seen officially in a performance appraisal report.

The Ministry of Education called upon parents to register students in public schools or in private schools outside the list ow weak schools, in those that have at least an "acceptable" rating.
