Some of the best young athletes from around the world will be in the UAE in February 2018 for the inaugural World School Games.

The international multi-sport event showcases primary school students' talent and sportsmanship.

The three day event will be staged in Dubai Sports City and attended by International schools from across the globe.

A minimum of 16 students (8 boys and 8 girls) from each school will take part in swimming, athletics and football in a bid to accrue the most points and be crowned World Champions.

“Sport is a universal language, and it has the power to unite people like nothing else on this planet. We wanted to create a truly international event that brings people together from all over the world, breaks down social and cultural barriers, and celebrates the talents and diversity of children from different countries, backgrounds and education systems.” James Hair, World School Games board member

The competition has, so far, garnered registrations from schools in Spain, Greece, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Uganda.

“Sport is an important part of Dubai’s modern identity and this city presents the perfect destination to host this global event. The weather conditions will be perfect in February while the infrastructure including sports venues, hotels, tourist attractions and amenities represent an international benchmark,” said Andrew Cook, Director at Gulf Youth Sport, the official media partner of The World School Games 2018.
