The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is a global education event attracting more than 900 students from 50 countries who compete in a range of events - debates, collaborative writing assignments, and even a multiple-choice Scholar's Challenge.

The Middle East leg of WSC is being hosted, for the second year, by Sunmarke School on 23rd March, 2018. An impressive 60 schools from the UAE will be participating. The Dubai 1 Regional Round is the biggest round of the event globally.

Every year different rounds of the WSC are hosted by different schools around the world. Winners of the regional rounds move on to the Global Round and then the Tournament of Champions is held at Yale University in the United States

The WSC focuses on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant to today.

Other participating countries in the World Scholars Cup include Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kenya, Slovenia, Chile, Kazakhstan, Korea, the United States, Australia, Japan, China, and India. Over 50 countries are represented in total.

The event is now over 10 years old. It was founded in 2006 by Daniel Berdichevsky, who, according to Wikipedia, is "a noted figure in international education, the application of online social networks, and in the design of persuasive technologies".
