LET'S GO

Dubai's education regulator, the KHDA, has launched a rather inspiring initiative - The #10WeekStreak challenge - with the aim of helping the emirate's students find out what they could achieve in 10 weeks.

Open to anyone studying in Dubai all students who take part for 10 consecutive weeks will be eligible to "win a prize" at the beginning of the next academic year. No detail on what the prize is. Yet.

Example challenges given by the KHDA? "Learning to say hello in a new language, playing a new sport, or simply taking time out to breathe..."

The competition has been designed to promote well-being and the love of learning, as well as to encourage students to "try or do something new each week, post a photo or video of themselves doing each activity on Twitter or Instagram, and challenge five of their friends to do the same".

Students decide which activities to try depending on what they most enjoy. If they need extra help choosing, the KHDA offers a list of suggestions - see below... Our own Summer Camp list may also help with over 100 summer camps to choose from.

“Summer holidays are a great opportunity for young people to explore what they like to do, as well as find new things they’re interested in, commented Dr Abdulla Al Karam, director general of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

"During #10WeekStreak, the whole community will become a classroom. The challenge supports the idea that learning is for life, and will use the positive power of social media to enable students to share their experiences with each other.”

The KHDA is also providing a printable planner to help students execute their 10 week strategy.

#10WeekStreak starts today (Sunday July 2) and runs to Thursday September 7.
