UAE Excels In CBSE Grade 10 Results
The CBSE Grade 10 results were released yesterday and students across the UAE were celebrating.
Over 8,000 students from 21 schools took part in the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE).
All students sitting the exam were aiming for a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10, meaning the student scored an A1 across all subjects.
Across the GEMS CBSE network, a staggering 600 students achieved a CGPA of 10.
GEMS Our Own English High School had 171 students with a CGPA of 10, while the Indian High School had 148 this year.
Talking to Gulf News, principal at the Indian High School, Ashok Kumar highlighted just how well UAE students had done in the exams noting, there had been a 'marked increase in the number of students receiving a CGPA of 10 this year.'
Globally however, the overall pass percentage actually fell from 96.21 percent in 2016, to 90.95 this year, a a dip of more than 5 percent.
Kumar went on to say, “we are now reverting to the previous assessment pattern. I would like to tell all my students to reach for the stars. With the correct attitude, nothing is impossible. I’m sure our students will continue to do us proud with their perseverance and hard work."
Other schools which did well this year, were DPS Sharjah with 82 students scoring a CGPA of 10, while DPS Dubai had 73 percent.
Other Sharjah schools which performed well were: Sharjah Indian School with 61 percent of students achieving a CGPA of 10, the Emirates National School of Sharjah with 45 percent and India International School of Sharjah with 22 percent.
