Fourth equal on our list, Sharjah English School is a small school with a strong British flavour - that is, SES has adopted more than just an England and Wales based curriculum.

According to its BSO inspection, “the appearance, nature and ethos of the school are recognisably British". The school also celebrates major events in the UK, for example the Royal Wedding, Remembrance Day and the London Olympics.

With under 1000 students, the school has, in its words to have “an intimate knowledge” of its students, with policies and strategies in place for “intervention and support when students are falling behind", and policies for "pushing gifted and talented children, and opportunities for accelerated learning.”

Academically that's quite a strength, and seems to have a tangible effect on results. In the last set we have seen, the school achieved a 90% IGCSE/GSE pass rate (grades A* to C) compared to the UK figure of 69.8%, and an 86% pass rate for A’ Level (Grades A* to C) compared to a UK average of 76%. It says it has a 100% graduation rate of its A’ Level students to tertiary study.

In your ratings you pick up on the quality of teaching, as well as the broader scope of the school, and its extra curricular activities as standout elements . However SES hits the spot pretty much across the board.
