Creating this kind of environment is down to both us and how we structure our individual lives and goals, as well as how the wider society and economy within which we live is managed. In this context that the UAE created a Minister for Happiness in not such a surprise, although WhichSchoolAdvisor.com would argue that actually, happiness belongs across all ministries.
This is because happiness is not achieved from bunting, random holidays, or 'happy days'. It is achieved by providing opportunities, rules, regulations, incentives, and a legal framework that give people the ability to advance, make progress, look after their family, achieve, self actualise, and be confident of the future. Following Maslow's hierarchy of needs, it begins with basics - the ability to keep our families safe, warm and well fed.
This is the second WhichSchoolAdvisor.com Happiness and Quality of Life survey, and it looks at Happiness in the UAE from two perspectives. Firstly it simply asks you whether you are happy, resulting in an overall %. We will use this to see if the UAE is a happier or sadder place from our last survey. Secondly it asks those questions that enable us to see why you have answered in the way that you have. Are you still confident in the future, are you able to afford a good standard of life? Do you feel the UAE offers the chances for you to progress..?
We will continue to collect data over the next eight weeks with results being published in April. As the UAE heads towards the Expo, and with the recent introduction of VAT, we think there is no better time than now to take the pulse of the nation, to determine exactly how happy and healthy the UAE is on its march to delivering what will be a milestone project in the country's history.
Join in and have your say here... Note, the survey will take approximately 11 minutes to complete.
