Final clarification of final exam dates has revealed less disruption to summer plans than originally anticipated.

Exam dates for students following the Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum will run from May 20 to June 27.

The exams for six dedicated subjects including Islamic Education, General Science, Health Science, Social Studies, Arabic and English will take place between May 20 and will conclude on June 12.

The remaining subjects exams will resume on June 20 with the final exam taking place on June 27. Final exam dates will vary depending on what grade the student is in and what module he/she is sitting - see table below.

An earlier circular has mooted a final exam date in the second week of July, which would have impacted travel plans for families across the UAE. The final, more conservative changes bring exam dates largely back in line with conventional schedules.

However, according to media reports some families that have booked airline tickets early have been affected. A parent of a Grade 12 Egyptian student in an Abu Dhabi-based school told Khaleej Times said the new schedule has overlapped with air tickets they have already purchased.

Private schools following the MoE curricula only for Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies should not be affected at all by the change in dates however, as all subjects fall within the first tranche of exams.
