LET'S GO

Private schools throughout the emirate of Abu Dhabi are being visited by inspectors who are checking the functionality of their CCTV cameras.

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) had given all schools a deadline of August 2013 to install surveillance systems in certain key areas of the school. These include pick-up and drop-off areas, main entrances and lobbies as well as all building access points, elevator lobbies and corridors on all floors.

The inspections began yesterday and will continue over the coming months. Hamad Al Dhaheri, executive director of private school and quality assurance at ADEC said:  "Installing the proper CCTV cameras in private schools comes in line with ADEC's mission to help safeguard students, teachers and the school community as a whole."

The inspections are being carried out by a third party which has been contracted by ADEC to complete the work.
