A top UK educator believes AI will be leading our classrooms by 2027.

Sir Anthony Seldon thinks teachers will lose their traditional role and simply become "classroom assistants, remaining on hand to set up equipment, help children when necessary and maintain discipline."

Author, political commentator and ex master at Wellington College, Seldon was talking at the British Science Festival in Brighton yesterday.

He said these intelligent machines would, "open up the possibility of an Eton or Wellington education for all," and he believes the 'revolution' could be here in a decade.

"It certainly will change human life as we know it," he said.

"Everyone can have the very best teacher and its completely personalised," he went on. "The software you are working with will be with you throughout your education journey... it can move at the speed of the learner."

"This is beyond anything we have seen in the industrial revolution or since, with any other technology," he continued.

"The technology is already beginning to arrive," he said. "It's already there on the west coast of the US, and its already beginning to take jobs away."

AI in the classroom is the subject of Seldon's new book, 'The Fourth Education Revolution,' to be published next year.
