Repton Reduces Fees by 10% on 10th Birthday

Repton School Dubai has celebrated its 10th anniversary by announcing it will respond to "the current economic pressure on parents" by reducing fees for its senior school, and freeze fees for  its Junior School for the next academic year.

Repton said it had received KHDA approval to reduce fees in the Senior School by an average of 10%. The fee reduction will be effective from the 2018/19 Academic Year. It is the first school we are aware of to make this move.

Repton School Dubai is currently the third most expensive school in Dubai, with average fees of AED 85,600

In addition to a look at its fees, the school said it will offer 10 scholarships for its pupils.

Winners of the scholarships will be "independent, creative thinkers with broad intellectual interests" and will be offered a 10 % discount in annual school fees.

"The Repton Dubai Scholarships [will] reward pupils who demonstrate outstanding ability and effort in Academics, The Arts, Music and Sports, while enriching our school environment," David Cook, the Principal of Repton School Dubai said at an open day on its campus to make the 10th anniversary.

Three Scholarships will be offered across Year 5, two Scholarships across Year 6, three Scholarships across Year 7 and two Scholarships across Year 8.

Repton Dubai makes it to its tenth birthday on something of a high. As the first big named UK private school to make it to Dubai it opened with a considerable amount of noise and attention. While most schools would have been allowed to stumble a few times on their way to maturity, Repton's initial heavyweight marketing and premium plus fees meant expectations were set very high, and the school was allowed little room for error. Any stumble was picked up on very quickly.

Ten years on however the school is largely delivering on its original promise. It is now rated Outstanding by the KHDA, and achieved its best ever results in external examinations in 2017, with 29% of all pupils achieving the top A* grade and 58% of pupils securing A*/A grade at IGCSE. An impressive 81.5% of pupils results were graded at B or above.

The school's decision to freeze and reduce fees comes at a time of increasing competition amongst schools for students, most notably for schools with fees at the premium plus range. In 2017/18 North London Collegiate School took the title from GEMS Nations Academy as the most expensive school in Dubai. Its officially approved KHDA fees average 106,000 AED across year groups, although it currently offers 'Founders Fee' discounts.
