Students in the UAE will not need to resit leaked Maths and Economics CBSE exams, its exam board said on Friday.

No CBSE student outside India will be required to retake the re-examination.

The CBSE had announced re-examinations for millions of students worldwide for Grade 10 mathematics and Grade 12 economics following reports of question papers in these subjects being leaked over the social media.

At the time the board had said, "with a view to uphold the sanctity of Board Examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct [Maths and Economics] examinations."

According to a Gulf News report representation efforts made by schools in the Gulf region had been instrumental in the CBSE board reviewing and ultimately rethinking the re-examination decision.

In the UAE, a CBSE resit of Maths would have affected 8,474 Grade 10 students, while a Grade 12 Economics resit would have impacted a further 2,713 students.

UAE students and schools have flooded Twitter with tweets expressing considerable relief at the final decision.
